HOW TO PLAY
three steps, no download
The server is LIVE — MapleVerse is in open beta. The game is up and running
right now, open to everyone, free, with no key or invite needed. Just follow the three
steps below and you are in. It is still a beta, so you will meet rough edges — if
you find one, please report it on the test portal; that
queue is what fixed most of what works today. Patch notes land on the
news page.
Step 1 — Make a Verse8 account (recommended)
MapleVerse runs on the Verse8 platform. You can jump in with Guest Login and play instantly, but guest progress is tied to the browser you used that day — clear your cookies or switch devices and your characters may be unreachable.
With a free Verse8 account, your characters are tied to you:
- Your save follows you across devices and browsers.
- Your character roster (up to several characters per world) stays yours.
- Your spot on the rankings is permanent.
- Go to verse8.io and sign up (it's free).
- Stay signed in to Verse8 in the browser you play with.
Step 2 — Open the game
The game lives at this permanent address:
No installer, no patcher, no 4 GB download. The game loads right in the page.
Step 3 — Log in like it's 2005
- Press OK on the notice scroll.
- Click Login (your Verse8 session signs you in — there is no game password).
- Choose Scania and a channel, then Enter Channel.
- Create your character — face, hair, skin, gear and name — and press Start.
You'll wake up on Maple Island. From here, the beginner's guide takes over.
How saving works
- Your character saves automatically every few seconds while you play, and when you switch maps or log out.
- Progress, inventory, quests, Vesos, fame, buddies, guild — all of it is stored server-side.
- One shared world: your friends see you in the same maps and channels.
Tip: playing as a guest first is fine for a look around — but make
the Verse8 account before you get attached to a character.
